Charity
As part of our commitment to our local community, we team up with a local charity every year to help fundraise and support them.
Over the last few years you’ve helped us to raise literally thousands of pounds for these really great causes:
- 2011 – Rainbow Rehoming Centre, Eglinton: £120
- 2011 – Something Special, Eglinton: £1051
- 2013 – The Mark Pollock Trust: £1303
- 2014 – Little Orchids Children’s Centre: £828.09

As a team we’ve supported these charities through Sponsored Runs, Family Fun Days in the practice, Sensory Days, Tombolas, Pub Quizzes, Face Painting – the list goes on…
We’d really like to thank all our patients for their on-going generosity. If you have a local charity in mind that you would like us to support in the future please pop in and let us know about it.

Our Charity for 2014: Little Orchids Children’s Centre
We partnered with “Little Orchids Children’s Centre” at Gransha in 2014 who have a special interest in sensory support. They provide therapeutic intervention and support for children aged 2-4 years identified with special needs and those who may require additional support. For more information on this great charity visit their website.
mobile phone recycle logoAside from fundraising, we also support this great charity by recycling old mobile phones. If you have old phones lying in a drawer at home simply drop them in to us; for every 165 mobile phones collected Little Orchids can claim a free iPad to help with the development of a child requiring additional support. Remember – ask your friends/family/colleagues if they have any old phones lying about; every phone counts towards the 165 needed for each ipad!.
Our Partnership with Vision Aid Overseas
Every year we collect hundreds of pairs of glasses for Vision Aid Overseas. They then deliver our donated glasses to adults and children in disadvantaged countries across the world who otherwise wouldn’t have any glasses. Together we can help millions of people to see, something we often take for granted.
vision-aid-overseas-recycling-boxWhat do you do with your old glasses? Having donated over 300 pairs last year, we want to continue our great work and donate even more pairs this year. If you have any glasses which you no longer wear why not clear out your cupboards, gather them together and contact us. We’ll arrange to have them collected them from you or you can call into the practice and leave them in our collection box. We’ll make sure they get put to good use.
Scooby, our Sponsored Guide Dog
Finally, we also sponsor guide dogs throughout their training programmes.
Our first sponsored puppy, Ufton is now a fully-fledged Guide-Dog, working hard to help give independence to someone with a severe visual impairment.
Scooby, our extremely cute black lab puppy is progressing well through training school and we enjoy regular updates on her progress!

Keep an eye out here and on our Facebook page for upcoming events!
Testimonial
We’re delighted that Eglinton Eyecare has chosen us for their charity of the year this year. The funds they have raised are so valuable to the centre and will go a long way towards the running costs of the centre as well as valuable resources for the children. Eglinton Eyecare has made a huge effort at organising events and we are very thankful not only for the funds, but also for raising awareness of the centre.
