About Us

In Our Community

At Eglinton Eyecare we believe that one of the best ways we can help our patients to look after their eyes is by educating them. Patients aren’t always sure why or how to look after their eyes, which is why at Eglinton Eyecare we regularly give educational talks and presentations to groups in the local community.

All talks are tailored to suit our audience. Since 2009 we have been visiting our local schools every year to teach Year 4 children all about the importance of looking after their eyes.

We also present talks to several community groups on request. In the past this has included local Cubs & Rainbows groups, the Foyle U3A, Foyle W.I and to several groups of schoolchildren at the Big Bang SciFest in St Mary’s College, Derry.

If you would like one of our team to come to carry out a workshop or present to your school or community group please contact us and we will be more than happy to help. We can tailor a presentation specifically for your group.

We organise competitions annually at Halloween, Christmas and Easter for all local primary school children, building a sense of fun into Eyecare. Children draw pictures tailored to the season and their entries are all displayed in our practice for their families and our patients alike to admire. Maybe you’ve been down our driveway to check out our “gallery” at some stage? For some of our fantastic previous winners and entries just look here.
