Jean Kelly, Practice Owner and Children’s Eyecare Specialist
BSc Hons., Prof Cert Paed Eye Care, Dip.ScV., M.ASvP., MCOptom
As a proud Eglinton native, I have always been passionate about providing exceptional eye care to the community I call home. After qualifying in Optometry from Aston University in 1997, I gained valuable experience working in Cardiff before returning to Northern Ireland to build my career locally.
In 2005, I fulfilled a long-held ambition by establishing Eglinton Eyecare, with the vision of creating an independent practice centred on outstanding patient care, personal service, and strong community values. Twenty years later, I remain as passionate as ever about helping patients of all ages enjoy the best possible vision and eye health.
I have a particular interest in children’s eyecare and hold additional qualifications in this area, including specialist training to support children with dyslexia and reading difficulties. Helping children gain confidence through improved vision is one of the most rewarding aspects of my role.
As both an optometrist and business owner, I enjoy the variety that each day brings—from caring for patients and leading our wonderful team to developing new ideas that help the practice continue to grow and evolve.
Outside of work, family life keeps me busy. I have three fabulous children: Anna, my eldest, and twins, Sean and Aidan, who are nearly 3 years younger than Anna. I enjoy travelling, keeping fit, spending time with friends, exploring the outdoors and making memories with my family, particularly on adventures around Donegal.
