Jean Kelly, Practice Owner and Children’s Eyecare Specialist

BSc Hons., Prof Cert Paed Eye Care, Dip.ScV., M.ASvP., MCOptom

Born and bred in Eglinton, I qualified in Optometry at Aston University in 1997. Following graduation I enjoyed my first 2 years in Cardiff, gaining valuable experience before returning to live in Eglinton to practice locally.

Towards the end of 2005 I felt ready for the challenges that come with owning and building my own practice. So, with a strong desire to provide exceptional customer service in an independent setting to my local community I established Eglinton Eyecare.

I have an interest in children’s eyecare and now specialise in helping children with dyslexia and reading difficulties.

Opening the business has certainly changed my life tremendously. Having always had a fantastic and supportive team alongside me it’s been a thoroughly enjoyable journey.

Outside of the business I am fully occupied with enjoying a very busy life with my family – we have 3 young children: Anna, our eldest, and our twins, Sean and Aidan. I enjoy getting outdoors, travelling and exploring new places whenever the opportunity arises. Over the years I’ve enjoyed my fair share of adventure sports: skiing, parachute-jumping, paragliding, white-water rafting, caving, abseiling and even did a few bungee-jumps in New Zealand. More recently discovering beaches, exploring forest walks, parks and traveling around Donegal near our holiday home with our children is more up my street now.
