PNX Lenses
For anyone choosing a rimless or half-rimmed frame you can be reassured that we would only recommend the best lens material for your glasses. With standard plastic there’s a chance of your lenses cracking around the drill-holes or chipping at the edges. That’s why we always recommend a tougher lens material, PNX, for these types of frames. With PNX you have the added reassurance of our warranty that if your lenses crack or chip we’ll replace them straight away at absolutely no cost to you within the first 2 years. Hi index lenses are the lens of choice for anyone with a moderate or high prescription if your lenses are a little thicker than you would like. Modern technologies allow us to provide you with more cosmetically attractive, thinner and lighter lenses, in even the most complex of prescriptions. Plastic lenses can now be made as thin as glass lenses, meaning you can have the cosmetic benefits of a thin and light lens without having to worry about the lenses getting broken or cracked. Our trained dispensing team will offer you advice and recommend the best lens to suit both your prescription and your frame choice. Our onsite technology can demonstrate this for you in accurate 3D images so you can see the amazing difference for yourself.
Scratch Resistant Coatings
Plastic lenses have many advantages in comparison to glass lenses. They are preferred to glass lenses as they are thinner, stronger, much lighter and certainly much safer than glass. However, one disadvantage is that the material is “softer” and therefore easier to scratch. We therefore always recommend a scratch resistant coating on plastic lenses. It will help to protect your lenses by preventing everyday superficial scratches, helping your glasses will last you much longer.
Anti-reflection Coatings
Did you realise that as much as 10% of light can be prevented from passing through your lenses and into your eyes by reflections? This has the effect of making you see less clearly. You wouldn’t turn the lights down by 10% so why should you allow your glasses to have this effect? The perfect solution to this is an anti-reflective (or MAR) coating. These coatings help to eliminate the surface reflections on lenses (allowing approximately 99% of light to reach your eyes rather than 90%) whilst also providing a scratch-resistant and easy to clean lens. Hoya’s ‘High Vision Long Life’ anti-reflective coating is one of the toughest, easiest to clean coatings available. It provides you with excellent reflection free vision and is available across our full range of lenses.
Transitions
Transitions lenses change from clear (when you are indoors) to dark (when you are outdoors) and everything in between. They take away the need for you to constantly swap your normal glasses for sunglasses when you are outdoors in the sun, and back again when you are indoors. No matter where you are, or what situation you’re in, Transitions lenses adapt to the perfect shade so that you see well. They’re designed to be worn all day long, outdoors and indoors. You’ll forget you have them on. And you can get them in virtually every frame, style, size and prescription. They’re also great for children. They don’t just make everything look great; they also reduce eye fatigue and strain, while blocking 100% of UVA/UVB light.
