OCT Scans
We’re delighted to have invested in state-of-the-art Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) equipment earlier this year to enable our Optometrists to provide you with a more comprehensive examination of the inside of your eyes, helping us to see parts of your eyes which previously weren’t visible with retinal photography.
OCT scans enables us to give you a more thorough eye health examination, detect eye conditions at an earlier stage and monitor eye health changes much more accurately each time you visit us. It creates a 3-D image of the different layers of the light-sensitive lining of your eye (retina) and your optic nerve. This helps our Optometrists to detect eye conditions earlier, such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, retinal detachment and multiple other disorders of the eye, including tumours. Just like retinal photography, the scan is non-invasive, painless and really quick to do. As we don’t have to be too close to you for this exam, these scans are also safer for both you and our Optometrists.
