I qualified as an Optometrist in 2003 having studied in University of Ulster and completing my pre-registration year under the watchful eye of our very own Jean Kelly! Since then, I have worked in many optometric environments, both in large multiple and smaller independent practice settings.

I spent the first part of my career working in Newcastle-upon Tyne, where I met my husband. We moved back to Northern Ireland as I am a Claudy girl at heart and wanted to settle and have my family back here. Luckily my husband agreed and he considers himself a Claudy man now too and we have three beautiful children who keep us on our toes!

I’ve been a part of the Eglinton Eyecare team since 2011, firstly as a locum. I joined as resident Optometrist in the practice in Jan 2024. I enjoy my drive to work every morning through the lovely tree lined street in Eglinton, and my patients are so warm and friendly, it does not seem like work to me at all. Optometry can be diverse and sometimes challenging; no two days are ever the same, but this is what I love about my job and ultimately knowing I am improving my patients’ quality of life gives me great satisfaction.

In my spare time I enjoy walking, listening to podcasts and audiobooks. My children also keep me very well occupied with sports events and training sessions, and whenever we get a chance, my family and I love to travel.
